Activities
The business activities of Rural Equities Limited are investment in and management of rural property in New Zealand. Through its 100% wholly owned subsidiary, the New Zealand Rural Property Trust, it owns 29 farms spread throughout New Zealand covering 13,520 hectares. It also owns a forest at Ngaruawahia with 865 hectares planted in pinus radiata. The forest is mature and is currentl y being harvested and re-planted.
Of the farms, 12 are in the North Island and 17 are in the South Island. All are well located, high quality properties capable of a variety of uses with a high level of development and production. There is a balance of dairy, sheep and cattle, deer and arable farm properties.
Twenty of the farms are leased to individual farmers. The other nine are directly managed, comprising 5,360 hectares – or over a third of the total area of farm land owned. Six of the directly managed farms are dairy farms and approximately 3,750 cows are milked in conjunction with 50/50 sharemilkers. The remaining three directly managed properties (Waikoha, Puketotara and Annandale) are sheep and beef farms.
